UniLaSalle's commitment to sustainable development is more than ever on the move. A dedicated team is working to set up projects, monitor them and promote the social, environmental and solidarity actions already anchored within the School and its campuses.
On Wednesday, February 10, two projects received an award at the French-speaking Trophies for Responsible Campuses. These projects aim to improve the life of the campus and its students as well as to integrate the issues of ecological transition and sustainable development.
Here are the winning initiatives:
UniLaSalle attaches great importance to the issue of disability and inclusion. This is reflected by the presence of a disability mission for more than 10 years within the establishment. Its main missions are
- Supporting students with disabilities in their academic curriculum (from their application to their graduation) by setting up material, human and financial measures adapted to their disability for their academic follow-up, campus life and professional integration.
- Advocating at the national level for inclusive access to higher education
- Raise awareness of the entire educational and student community on the theme of disability.
- Establish partnerships between the school and local associations dedicated to supporting the disabled to create social and professional links (Arche de Beauvais, APF France handicap...). It is in this area that the Guide Babine project is integrated.
The "Guide Babine" project was initiated by the UniLaSalle disability mission, the Uni4Handi'cap student association and the CGLV (Chien Guide pour la Liberté Visuelle) association. Six puppies, future guide dogs for the visually impaired, are being trained by 6 foster homes: 3 trinomials of students and 3 student-employee pairs.
Every year UniLaSalle, Beauvais campus, admits more and more students to its programs. The campus is also concerned about housing them in a living environment that respects the challenges of sustainable development by combining the well-being of young people and the reduction of its environmental footprint.
Since September 2018, when the 3 Les Carrières residences were inaugurated, they have already demonstrated their performance. In addition to enabling social cohesion in the student community through "living together". The residences achieve other objectives such as creating a new co-location concept and rethinking and controlling UniLaSalle's carbon footprint. For example:
- the production of hot water is done by solar panels,
- rainwater is recovered for the sanitary facilities (saving 30% of consumption),
- An intelligent energy management system has been implemented in each colocation,
- 80 fruit trees have been planted around the residence,
- the façade covering materials come from local companies,
- the housing units are CERQUAL certified and have the label RT2012 HQE -20%.
A total of 8.86 Tons of CO2 were saved, i.e. nearly 9 round trips between Paris and New York by plane!
