Project objectives / Het doel van het project
The objective of the project is to create a food supplement composed of various ingredients with benefits for the gastrointestinal health of animals and humans. Eventually, this solution could be used by breeders to limit post-weaning weight loss in animals and improve the digestive comfort of people suffering from inflammatory disorders of the digestive system.
Het doel van het project is om een voedingssupplement te creëren bestaande uit verschillende ingrediënten met voordelen voor de gastro-intestinale gezondheid van dier en mens. Uiteindelijk zou deze oplossing door veehouders kunnen worden ingezet om het gewichtsverlies bij biggen na het spenen te beperken, alsook door mensen die lijden aan inflammatoire aandoeningen van het spijsverteringsstelsel om het verteringscomfort te verbeteren.

The ADAGIO project has obtained funding for a period of 3 years via the INTERREG V France Wallonia Flanders call for tenders. This project aims to develop an innovative nutritional solution for livestock. This solution must allow a better digestive health of the animals and in that to avoid the heavy and prejudicial treatments from an economic point of view for the stockbreeders but also for the quality of the products.
The approach proposed in this project is linear with, first, the formulation of nutritional solutions, the characterization of their physicochemical properties, and then the evaluation of the beneficial impact on the digestive health of the animals. The project also envisages studying the possibility that this same type of solution could be used in human food in the form of a food supplement, which would make it possible to provide additional aid to people treated for digestive pathologies.
Het ADAGIO project heeft voor 3 jaar financiering gekregen via een aanbesteding van Interreg France-Wallonie-Vlaanderen. Het project heeft als doel om een innovatieve nutritionele oplossing te ontwikkelingen voor landbouwhuisdieren. Deze oplossing beoogt een betere darmgezondheid bij productiedieren met minder zware medicinale behandelingen die niet enkel de boeren economisch treffen, maar ook potentieel de kwaliteit van het product schaden.
Voor het project werd een lineaire aanpak voorgesteld met als eerste taak het formuleren van de nutritionele oplossing en het karakteriseren van de fysicochemische eigenschappen, gevolgd door de evaluatie van de beoogde gunstige effecten in celculturen. In de finale fase zal het effect van het product op de darmgezondheid van de dieren nagegaan worden. In het project zal eveneens de mogelijkheid onderzocht worden om dergelijk type oplossing in de humane voeding te gebruiken als voedingssupplement, in het bijzonder ter ondersteuning van de behandeling van mensen met spijsverteringsproblematieken.
Nutritional solutions / Nutritionele oplossing
The nutritional solution is composed of ingredients with known beneficial properties and already used individually. The objective of the ADAGIO project is to create a mixture combining these different ingredients and their benefits in a single solution.
De nutritionele oplossing is samengesteld uit ingrediënten met gekende gunstige eigenschappen die reeds apart ingezet worden. Het doel van het ADAGIO project is om een mengeling van deze ingrediënten te creëren die hun individuele voordelen combineert in één product.
