To mark the start of the 2024 academic year, UniLaSalle Rennes' éKoLab, in partnership with Rennes Métropole, is organizing an ephemeral ressourcerie on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 on the Ker Lann campus. This unique event, open to all UniLaSalle Rennes students, aims to promote reuse by offering school supplies, furniture, books and other basic necessities at free prices.

A project for sustainability and reuse

éKoLab, a low-tech and repair-focused third-party space, has relaunched a partnership with Rennes Métropole's waste collection centers to recover reusable materials. The partnership was initiated by Reynald Lherbier, co-founder of éKoLab and a lecturer at UniLaSalle Rennes.

"The short-lived ressourcerie event marks a first step in testing this collaboration. If the initiative is well received, a recurring or permanent ressourcerie project could see the light of day, reinforcing the ecological and solidarity-based commitment of the school and its partners."
Agathe Godon, éKoLab member and Rennes Métropole intern

An ephemeral ressourcerie for the back-to-school season

On September 11, 2024, the ressourcerie éphémère will offer a wide range of items, from school supplies to furniture and crockery, books and sports accessories. All these items, collected from waste collection centers, will be sold at free prices, enabling students to furnish and equip themselves at lower cost while supporting an eco-responsible approach. Funds raised will be redistributed to participating student associations.

Organized by two UniLaSalle Rennes students, Agathe Godon and Mathurin Guisnel, in collaboration with associations such as Humanit'aime and EcoChallenge (UniLaSalle Rennes student associations), the event will mobilize a team of 15 student volunteers to receive and install equipment, and welcome visitors.

An initiative supported by UniLaSalle Rennes

Mr. Belhenniche, Director of UniLaSalle Rennes, fully supports this project and has authorized the holding of this ephemeral ressourcerie. He sees this initiative as an opportunity for students and associations to get involved in sustainable projects. If the project is successful, it could give rise to a more permanent annual ressourcerie on campus.

Working together for a sustainable future

Beyond this event, the partnership between Rennes Métropole and éKoLab opens up new prospects for the recovery of materials, essential to the operation of the third-location workshop.
