This summer, Arthur, treasurer of UniLaSalle Rouen's Bureau des Étudiants (BDE), had the opportunity to take part in an incredible experience: the Lasallian Leadership Program 2024 in Chicago! This annual event, which brings together Lasallian students from all over the world, enabled him to immerse himself in a world of learning and exchange. For two weeks, he shared great moments with 40 students from the four corners of the globe!
A captivating program: encounters and lessons learned
The program was rich and dynamic. Arthur attended inspiring lectures and took part in interactive workshops on management and leadership. “We spent a lot of time together, even outside the conferences," he says enthusiastically. Board games, soccer, volleyball and convivial meals punctuated their daily lives. These moments of sharing created solid friendships and a warm atmosphere.
One of the highlights? The conference given by Brother Alejandro Cerna, director of Lasalle Bethlehem. He shared his experience of the educational system in Palestine, where students juggle study with geopolitical challenges. “It was striking and truly inspiring," says Arthur. To top it all off, the graduation ceremony was an emotional moment, celebrating collective efforts and new friendships.
Memorable memories: laughter and surprises
Arthur's adventure was not short of surprises. While the students were particularly marked by their graduation ceremony, symbolizing the end of these two weeks, Arthur also had an anecdote: “We had to confine ourselves to a bunker for 2-3 hours because of a tornado that passed right by!” Fortunately, it was only as a precaution! These unexpected moments added a unique touch to his stay and strengthened the bonds between the participants.
For Arthur, the Lasallian Leadership Program has been much more than just a trip: it has been about making memories, meeting new people, learning new skills and so much more! This type of program, offered at UniLaSalle as a member of the LaSalle Network, not only shapes future leaders, but also forges committed students who are aware of the world's challenges.
