The veterinary student from UniLaSalle Rouen won at the Longchamp racecourse. Margaux Boyer, a student engineer at UniLaSalle Beauvais, finished in 6th place.

Capucine Gerfaud-Valentin, a veterinary student at UniLaSalle Rouen, brilliantly won the Championnat des Grandes Écoles, the grand final of which took place on Saturday July 13 at the Longchamp racecourse.

Despite having little experience of horse racing, our Rouen representative led the race from start to finish to win this competition reserved for students.

Another Lasallian also distinguished herself in this final. Margaux Boyer, a student-engineer from the Beauvais campus, achieved a fine 6th place, placing her in the middle of the pack.

Both students were supported by classmates and teachers from the Rouen campus.

2 Lasallian students qualified for the final

Capucine Gerfaud-Valentin and Margaux Boyer made it all the way to the final, finishing in the top 4 of their respective qualifying races. A superb performance for our Lasallian students, who were both discovering the world of horse racing.

An unforgettable experience for both Capucine and Margaux, whose impressions we had already gathered following their qualifying races.

Two other students, Laura Carpentier and Clotilde Doukhan, also took part in the qualifying races, but failed to qualify for the final.

“I got involved for the challenge, but also to discover something new. I didn't know the world of racing at all, and I want to discover all the worlds linked to the horse world, because after my veterinary training, I'd like to go into that.”

“It's crazy running at Longchamp, in the middle of all this public, and I've never competed at a high level before! I told myself that whatever happens, whether or not I qualify for the final, it will remain an exceptional experience.”

UniLaSalle, a clog in the horse world

In addition to its student associations dedicated to equestrian activities, UniLaSalle has put its foot down in the horse world by taking over the Advanced-Master program in Sciences and Management of the Equine Industry  in autumn 2023, offered until 2023 by the Institut Agro Dijon.

This Bac+6 course, unique in France and supported by the Hippolia cluster, trains multi-skilled professionals who, thanks to their in-depth knowledge of the equine environment, are capable of structuring and developing the industry's economic activity, both in France and internationally.

The first students will join the Rouen campus at the start of the 2024 academic year.
