This year, UniLaSalle Rouen is celebrating the start of the new academic year! The veterinary students of class 001 (currently in their 3ᵉ year), inaugurated the new Veterinary Anatomy Pole, accompanied by teachers and management.

On Wednesday, September 11, the very first TP (practical work) took place in a new area of the campus dedicated to veterinary training: the Pôle d'Anatomie Vétérinaire. Together, students and campus staff celebrated this special moment with gusto!

We would like to thank Métropole Rouen Normandie and Région Normandie for co-financing this project! And to mark this decisive moment for veterinary training, the management, the TP supervisors and the two class valedictorians in anatomy, representing their fellow students who were also present, came together to cut the ribbon, symbolizing the official opening of the Pôle.

Caroline Boulocher, Director of the Collège Vétérinaire

It is with great pride that we inaugurate today the Veterinary Anatomy Center at UniLaSalle Rouen, in the presence of 3rd year students (vet 001) and some of the teams who have contributed to the success of this project. We transformed existing spaces to create a spacious, bright yet discreet room, equipped with large digital screens for greater comfort for all. Just a few months ago, it still consisted of two biotech and storage rooms. The teams worked tirelessly this summer to ensure on-time delivery. Now it's time for anatomy lab!

The Veterinary Anatomy Center: a space dedicated to practice

The Pôle d'Anatomie Vétérinaire has transformed two former practical rooms and part of a patio into a modern laboratory, perfectly adapted to the needs of students.

Here are the main technical features of the Veterinary Anatomy Center:

  • Main laboratory : 200 m², located on the second floor, modular to accommodate both small groups and entire classes.
  • Changing rooms: separate for men and women, adjacent to the laboratory.
  • Preparation room: equipped with two cold chambers (one for refrigeration and one for freezing) and a future plastination room (a technique dedicated to the preservation of animal tissues and organs).
  • Garden level extension: currently being finalized, this space will accommodate dissections of large animals in small groups (maximum 20 students).

An exciting back-to-school season focusing on the nervous system

The veterinary students had just a few days to get back into the swing of things before starting their first practical work of the year, which was also the very first in the new laboratory! Under the guidance of Karl Klish, veterinary expert on the nervous system and lecturer at Bern Vetsuisse University, and with the support of Charlotte Beerts and Paula Papa, lecturers and researchers in anatomy at UniLaSalle Rouen, and Charles Edward Breemeersch, anatomy technician, they worked on the following theme: “The nervous system: anatomy, histology, embryology and physiology”.
The experience was particularly memorable for the students, who were delighted to be able to practice in such conditions. Steren, student and class delegate, comments: "I found it really big, so it was great fun to explore! It's also very well equipped, especially with the camera so you can follow the manipulations through the screen, which is really practical. It's also good to come back for practical work, and always with teachers who are so committed and available to us."

This event is part of a dynamic of continuous educational innovation at UniLaSalle Rouen. The inauguration of the Pôle d'Anatomie is just one step in the evolution of the campus, which is already preparing to welcome the Centre Hospitalier de l'École Vétérinaire, currently under construction on the campus. From September 2025, fourth-year students will be able to carry out clinical rotations here, reinforcing their immersion in the professional world.
