5 UniLaSalle Beauvais students win the final of the Minus CO2 Challenge organized by EAGE. Their innovative geothermal strategy enabled them to represent the school at GET in Rotterdam, demonstrating the excellence of UniLaSalle's geology training.

UniLaSalle's first participation, first victory!

The Geosquad team, led by Emeline Di Pasquale, Maitena Daguerre, Quentin Garcin, Lubin Daumard and Thibault Drulhe, all in their 5th year of Geology and Environment at UniLaSalle Beauvais, won the grand final of the Minus CO2 Challenge organized by the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE).

The competition, which aims to develop strategies for reducing carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere, is a real technical and scientific challenge. Teams have to work on complex datasets to propose concrete solutions. This year, our students rose to the challenge by developing an innovative strategy based on a dataset from the Netherlands for a deep geothermal energy theme.

Their journey took them all the way to the final, where they competed against 25 teams from all over the world. Thanks to their rigor and creativity, the Geosquad team won this prestigious competition, illustrating the excellence of Geology training at UniLaSalle Beauvais.

Next event: the Global Energy Transition!

This victory has enabled them to take part in the EAGE Global Energy Transition (GET), to be held in Rotterdam on November 5. They will have the opportunity to present their work in front of over 1,500 professionals from the geothermal and energy transition sectors. It's a unique opportunity for our students to showcase their expertise to an international audience.

Pedagogical support a key success factor

This success is also the fruit of top-quality teaching support. A big thank you to Laurent Fontanelli, a teacher-researcher at UniLaSalle Beauvais, who worked alongside the team for three months, guiding them through this adventure. His expertise and commitment played a key role in this success.

These collective efforts demonstrated the excellence of teaching at UniLaSalle Beauvais, which prepares its students to meet the major challenges of tomorrow.
