Master the technical, regulatory and normative tools for a transition towards sustainable buildings (housing, tertiary buildings and industries) with an energy, environmental and life cycle vision.
The challenges of the energy transition
The Energy Transition program meets three major challenges:
- Supporting the energy transition of companies or territories.
- Evaluating the environmental impact of products, services and organizational systems from their conception and throughout their life cycle.
- Take up the challenge of energy decarbonization and propose concrete development solutions.
At the end of this program, students are able to respond to the current challenges of the energy transition by proposing concrete solutions for decarbonization and environmental preservation and accompanying the transition of companies or territories.
Details of the courses
Environmental Assessment Major
- From environmental impacts to their quantification
- LCA, a multi-impact life cycle method
- The carbon balance
Minors
Each semester includes 2 blocks dedicated to minors, corresponding to 54 hours of complementary courses that allow students to complete their training in a related field.
The proposed minors
Block 1: Biotechnologies (bioprocesses and environmental microbiology) / Industrial and community waste management / Research and development in environmental sciences / Identification of Geo, Bio Energies (Geo-bio energies label) / Scientific approach - Research - Beginner
Block 2: Geographic Information System (GIS) / Life cycle of polymers / Conduct of an environmental authorization application / Scientific approach - Research - Beginner / Consolidate your English level - Validate the required level
In semester 8, two majors are offered:
- a main major: Environmental Engineering Technology and Engineering
- an opening major taught in English: Ecodesign and Circular Economy
Environmental Engineering Technology and Engineering Major
- Pollution Treatment
- Prevention, Reuse and Innovation
Minors
Each semester includes 2 blocks dedicated to minors, corresponding to 54 hours of complementary courses that allow students to complete their training in a related field.
Several minors are offered on the Rouen or Beauvais campuses, some of which require travel to the site (the others can be taken by distance learning).
Some examples of minors
Block 1: Laboratory tools for ecotoxicological evaluation / Entrepreneurship / Basics and fundamentals of LCA / Project management: From forecasting to agile / Scientific approach - Research - Intermediate / Working and communicating in a French-speaking environment / The multilingual engineer - international professional insertion / Energy sustainability in farms
Block 2: Evaluating and anticipating the impacts of human activities on territories using modeling approaches / Field diagnosis in the spring / Research and development in environmental sciences / Scientific approach - Research - Intermediate / Consolidating your level of English
Ecodesign and Circular Economy Major
Minors
Each semester includes 2 blocks dedicated to minors, corresponding to 54 hours of complementary courses that allow students to complete their training in a related field.
In the Energy Transition program, the minors are taught in French or in English and can be taken on the Rennes campus, the Rouen campus or the Beauvais campus, depending on the chosen theme.
Some examples of minors
Block 1: Water management / Laboratory tools for ecotoxicological evaluation / Energy sustainability in farms / Quantification and production of Geo, Bio Energies (Label Géo-bio énérgies) / Project management: From forecasting to agile / Entrepreneurship...
Block 2: Innovation, Carbon neutrality and Territories (Label Géo-bio énérgies) / Evaluating and anticipating the impacts of human activities on territories using modeling approaches / Field diagnosis in spring / Research and development in environmental sciences / Scientific approach - Research - Intermediate
In semester 9, you orient your course according to your desires, choosing from :
- One of the two main majors in the Energy Transition track, which delves deeper into this area:
- Transforming Territories
- Sustainable Buildings, Energy, Transitions
- one or more opening majors, designed to broaden your skills in another field:
- Ecological Engineering (Rennes campus)
- CSR/RSO - Behavioral Change (Rennes campus)
- Intrapreneurship, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Rennes campus)
- a semester, a double degree or a degree-granting stay in France or abroad (from 12 to 18 months for a double degree or a degree-granting stay)
The end-of-studies project is based on an internship in a company or a research internship for students, or on the long period in a company for students following an apprenticeship program.
It leads to the writing of a thesis and an oral presentation.
What jobs are there after the Energy Transition program?
The Energy Transition program allows you to work in all types of companies, particularly in industry, construction or even in structures linked to the territories.
