An international career focused on industrial projects and practical experience in the field, in the service of reasoned, sustainable and environmentally-friendly mineral resource development.

The challenges of mineral resources

In a world with growing and increasingly diversified needs for mineral resources, ranging from foodstuffs and energy transitions to technological innovations, healthcare and, of course, the industrial and construction sectors, the training of immediately operational talent is paramount.

Combining geological, geophysical, analytical and numerical knowledge and skills, our engineers will make a significant contribution to the efficient, responsible and sustainable exploration and exploitation of mineral resources.

These engineers will also have the skills to participate in innovations in functional geomaterials that meet the needs of tomorrow's cities and societies.

Diploma sought: Master degree in Geosciences and Environment

Campus : Beauvais

Language of instruction: French / English

Status: student (4th and 5th year) or apprentice (5th year only)

  • Direct sampling and analytical methods in resource geology
  • Indirect methods of subsurface analysis in resource geology (geophysics)
  • Project: Mémoire d'Initiation à la Recherche 1

minors

Each semester includes 2 blocks dedicated to minors, corresponding to 54 hours of complementary courses that enable students to complete their training in a related field.

Proposed minors

Block 1: Characterization of raw and secondary mineral materials / Automated data processing : Python programming and Numerical methods, Python and advanced methods / Scientific approach - Research - Beginner / Innovate, undertake and combat creaticide attitudes

Block 2: Advanced Spatial Analysis: Advanced processing of spatial data (remote sensing, Python automation, 3D, Data Model, Web diffusion) on ArcGIS / Scientific approach - Research - Beginner / Consolidate your level of English - Validate the required level

Major in Sustainable Mineral Resource Production and Recycling

  • Production of sustainable mineral resources
  • Digital and analog modeling of sustainable mineral resources
  • Project: Mémoire d'Initiation à la Recherche 2

minors

Each semester includes 2 blocks dedicated to minors, corresponding to 54 hours of complementary courses that enable students to complete their training in a related field.

Proposed minors

Block 1: Exploration and forecasting in sustainable mineral resources / Scientific approach - Research - Intermediate / Introduction to the Web: Developing a website / Sales techniques and commercial relations / Project management: From forecasting to agile management

Block 2: Management and applications in sustainable mineral resources and hydrogeology / 3D Modeling: 3D part design using Dassault Système solutions and 3D printing / Immersive entrepreneurship and design thinking / Scientific approach - Research - Intermediate

In semester 9, you can choose to follow your own path by selecting from :

  • one or more opening majors, designed to broaden your skills in another field (subject to change):
    • Numerics applied to geosciences (Beauvais campus)
    • QHSE, RSE, Risk manager (Beauvais campus)
    • Intrapreneurship, entrepreneurship and innovation (Beauvais campus)
  • a semester, a double degree or a degree-granting stay in France or abroad (from 12 to 18 months for a double degree or a degree-granting stay)

The final project is based on an in-company work placement or research placement for students, or on the long period spent in a company for apprentices.

A final dissertation is written and presented orally.

What are the career options after completing the Sustainable Mineral Resources course?

The Sustainable Mineral Resources pathway enables you to work in mineral exploration, the extractive mineral industry, the characterization and processing of mineral raw materials, the recycling and reclamation of mineral waste and excavated soil, and research and development.
