The “maker” community gathered in Lille this weekend for Maker Faire, a public event where amateurs and experts come to present their projects and share their know-how. A great opportunity for UniLaSalle to showcase the creations created by its students and employees in its two “Labs”, the MakerSpace at UniLaSalle Amiens and AgriLab at UniLaSalle Beauvais.
For the occasion, students from UniMakers (UniLaSalle Amiens' robotics and model-making association) and the MakerSpace team brought along 4 robots that took part in the last Coupe de France de robotique, an educational robot created with 1st-year students, and a 3D printer. AgriLab also presented prototypes of “home-made” agricultural devices, such as blood pressure monitors and Berlese devices.
“We take part in Maker Faire to help democratize science and technology among the general public, but also to create links with other ‘makers’ that can lead to future collaborations,” explains Adrien Bracq, MakerSpace manager at UniLaSalle Amiens. The event was also an opportunity to present the Fabacademy, in which AgriLab participates: an intensive six-month training course in rapid prototyping.
At the same time, Luc Hanneuse, head of AgriLab, represented UniLaSalle at OctoberMake, which brought together the network of French fablabs in Roubaix, including AgriLab.
There's no doubt that the “maker” culture is already well established at UniLaSalle.
